A Good Act is Hard to Follow

Wow. It's hard to follow a post with a picture of the Incredible Hulk included. And I guess I'll have to stop referring my highbrow friends to our blog.

So speaking of films...Austin and I have been going to these childbirth classes at the hospital, and they've been fairly non-graphic, up until this week, when we get shown a video of women giving birth. Gross! I don't plan on watching myself give birth, and I certainly don't want to see other women do it. We both tried not to watch the screen without seeming too immature about it.

Afterwards, this other pregnant lady asked the teacher what the point of showing us the video was, because she felt like she was about to puke and pass out at the same time. And the teacher had the most BS answer ever! Something about how seeing it helped you appreciate what your body was capable of. Please. I think when we experience actual childbirth we'll appreciate what we're capable of. So then the indignant pregnant lady points out that patients who are about to undergo major surgery don't watch a video of other people having surgery right before they go into the operating room. At which point the teacher said "I appreciate your honesty," and changed the subject.

So anyway, this post is for people who have the courage (or lack of social conditioning) to say the things you want to but never do.

Anona, is this your way of saying that you've been wanting to see the Incredible Hulk for a long time but haven't had the guts to just say it, and that you admire me for having the moxy to come right out and admit to the world that, yes, I want to see the Incredible Hulk, for having the gumption to admit it right here on this here blog that probably millions of people read, the gumption to shout, in the form of a picture of a green man tearing a car in two and brief witty commentary, that "I do not care what you think, world! I am in you but not of you!"? Is that what you're trying to say? I have great social conditioning, by the way. When you had Bro. Waddell did he make you practice writing long sentences?

Wow. That was quite an amazingly long sentence.

Well Chan, you've at least made me see what grammar is capable of.

Wow. Anona, I agree with outspoken pregnant lady. Was it you? It sounds like cruel and unusual punishment for having babies. Unnecessary and stupid.

Leanna, where were you. We missed you.
Julie, Leanna, Emily, etc. etc. come to Thursday seminar and dinner afterwords. We didn't get to talk to Julie near enough.

The Hulk? I think I stand with Matt's opinion, "Good, but . . . ." It was really the company and how they enjoyed it that made it fun.

I think of ducks when I think of Brother Waddell. Just his name..he's not endearing like a duck, he's more like the goose in my grandma's yard that would glare and hiss at anyone that got too close.
I took Shakespeare from him,(really liked it, actually) and it seemed like he wanted things pretty straightforward, so I don't know why you're practicing long sentences. Unless you're Latin American or Thoreau you really can't get away with it. Sorry Chandler. The attention span's just not that long. But semicolons help, just so you know.

I actually liked your sentence, Chan. Henry James wrote a sentence that's a whole page long, and it works too. You can't help it if Anona's attention span is low this near her the birth. (Wow. A. I can't believe you're this close; I hope you have air conditioning). But, I really have to give kudos to Anona for her goose simile to describe her prof. Pretty darn descriptive and insightful. I'm staying very neutral but ... Applause. Applause, Girl. We miss you. Can you drive up and come to dinner with us this Thursday?

I had a dream I was pregnant once...I didn't even think "Man, this is wierd," but more like "Man, I have to start eating better." Thank goodness it was just a dream, a huge, pregnant dream.

Nathan, that's my favorite quote of all time.

You know Nathan, I've never even had a pregnant dream, and I'm a girl. My roommates used to have them all the time.
I'm coming to seminar on Thursday, but I probably won't get there until 4:45 or so. I have to work before that.

Hey Matt, were you in Barnes and Noble on Saturday night? I thought I saw you run through the store but didn't catch you in time to say hi.

I might come by tomorrow (Tues.) after seminar because I won't be able to make it on Thursday. I'm going down to Utah for a baby shower and to go to an old friend's wedding reception. Sorry!
